Ailments of the Undead utilizes the unique aspects of video game design to guide the player through a representative lived experience of chronic conditions within a fictional narrative. The zombies lack of personal agency reflects my own experiences managing my chronic conditions & the experiences of someone close to me. Focusing on how you can use fictional creatures, characters or monsters to encourage empathy and understanding for chronic conditions without dehumanization.
