The Farside is a frozen tundra cut by churning and fluctuating channels of liquid water.
Illudia is tidally locked, cleaved into two distinct hemispheres: the Nearside, baked in eternal radiation, and the Farside, frozen in perpetuity. The Terminator is fertile land bridging the extremes. _x000d_
Biological factors behind animal preference are incorporated into the creature designs to deconstruct the social aspects, raising awareness of the role of underappreciated species._x000d_
Conflict resolution and building relationships are core gameplay elements. The decisions made in the terraforming process directly affect the player’s relationships with the crew. _x000d_

Concept Design
Providence is a world building document for the development of a video game. Providence aims to deconstruct subconscious biases against ‘undesirable’ Earth species through facilitating interaction with a fictitious alien world. Audience engagement with an eco-narrative structured around anthropogenically induced ecosystem collapse encourages critical thinking about current approaches to species endangerment, and the significant role that underappreciated species play within ecosystems.
