The aim of my collection Girlhood is to give form to the layered emotional and physical dimensions of girlhood, illuminating the overlooked issues that define the female experience. We must not restrict women’s right to express themselves sexually. Whether a woman is subservient, constrained by purity culture and male-imposed modesty, or confident in her body only to be reduced to something to be gazed upon, both exist within the same oppressive framework.
