I was honoured to work on four short films: Wishbone, Materia Gum, Dicky's Last Rap, and Byte Sized Sound Series. I held two head of department roles, Gaffer for Wishbone and one of the Directors of Photography for Byte Sized Sound Series. I also served as 2nd Assistant Camera for Materia Gum and Dicky’s Last Rap. Working on these films expanded my filmmaking skills in various areas, from understanding the significance of certain lighting to maintaining clear and direct communication throughout productions. I learned to adapt quickly to different situations and technical changes while also still being able to experiment creatively. I found an immense passion for the lighting department on Wishbone, as I found that aspect really made the scenes come to life, so I would love to continue to expand my skills in that specific area. Collaborating closely with like-minded artists has inspired me greatly about the future of films in Aotearoa, and I look forward to continuing to create with the skills I’ve gained.
