Kristi Kotzé

I’m a fourth year Fine Arts student whose work blends humour and relatability. My project ‘Had To Be There’, transforms personal snapshots into large, vibrant paintings using oils and spray paint. Inspired by my life as a young woman in her twenties and moments with friends, I explore everyday experiences in exaggerated, playful ways.Through this project, I discovered that humour naturally emerges when work is relatable, and that turning ordinary moments into visually striking compositions strengthens connection with the audience. ‘ Had To Be There ‘ is an accurate representation of my life as a young adult, and aims to resonate to others in the same way.
