Windows function as interventions to the landscape, mediating our relationship with the natural world. In a settler-colonial context, they are symbols of the frontier - representing the perceived ‘battle’ between man and nature. How do these narratives continue to shape our relationship to the environment in Aotearoa? Influenced by painters including Grahame Sydney, Alice Toomer, and Hiria Anderson-Mita, this series currently consists of two works, with intentions to develop it further.
