Rose Hird

This project investigates the role of heritage buildings within Aotearoa through the medium of printmaking, employing silk aquatint and drypoint etching. It examines how heritage status shapes both the function and perception of these structures, and interrogates the governmental frameworks that prioritise aesthetic preservation over social utility. Through this inquiry, the work reflects critically on systems of cultural value, preservation, and the politics of place.
