Fine Arts
Sculpture is an expression of whakapapa, a joining and relating of materials and forms. However, in these acts of connection, moments of distance emerge. The separation of Ranginui and Papatūānuku marks the first instance of this, a parting that creates space and dimension to explore. Building outwards, pushing upwards, and twisting longways; Intimate Distance acts as a contemplation of the expansive nature of whakapapa.
