The Restless Dead is an archivally motivated investigation of memory and its permeability, responding to my family’s legacy as colonial settlers on Rangitoto ki te Tonga, D’Urville Island. This intersecting binary of movement and stillness suggests others - dead and alive, fixed and transforming, and is reinforced by the material interaction of light and surface. A layering of current and historic record acknowledges the fickle kinship of memory and truth.
