Spatial Design
Cultivating Connection is an adaptive reuse of Te Kopahou Reserve Information Centre that seeks to revitalise relationships between human and non-human entities. The space will host gatherings, events, and workshops that support education and engagement with coastal ecologies. The design expands outward, transforming shelter into a welcoming space of openness, safety, belonging and mutual responsibilities. Grounded in atmosphere theory and environmental empathy, it envisions coexistence as a sensory dialogue that acknowledges the interrelation between people and te taiao.
