"Ruff Ruff Reserve" is an urban landscape project, focusing on creating an ecologically balanced and functional public space for dogs and their owners. Rich with dog recreational obstacles and environmentally beneficial systems, Ruff Ruff Reserve focuses on eco-friendly materials and designs, embodying the requirements of a biophilic space and the initiative to help protect our planet. Many of our dog parks in Wellington fit cookie cutter layouts and lack diversity. Surrounding the generic dog park is the growing fear of health and safety risks around dog aggression and territorial incidents. However, this park is working towards dispelling this anxiety and those stereotypes by preventing these risks; a safe park means more enjoyment for all. This project will take place in Woof Woof Ruff on The Terrace, one such cookie cutter dog park being the only one in the area. I plan to transform this park, bringing life and structure through biophilic design. Aiming for a more welcoming, accessible and inclusive park for all visitors and dogs, focusing on well-being, security and environmental health.
