The Flat Mates Table, a food subscription service that connects flats through shared meals and conversation —one potluck at a time.
Our app facilitates a seamless potluck experience, connecting four flats to co-create a three-course meal. It kicks off with a playful onboarding — it’s like a mini dating profile, but for your flat. We ask a few quick questions about your vibe, interests, and location so we can match you with the perfect “blind date” flat nearby.
Our vibrant and playful posters would be found plastered all around Wellington- catching the eyes of those passing by and inviting further action through our interactive QR code, taking you directly to our app.
Our conversation cards are included in every subscription box and tailored to each meal. For example, appetiser cards feature simple, easy-to-answer questions, whereas main meal cards have longer, more open-ended questions. These cards are fun, thought-provoking, and perfect for breaking the ice.

Our project, The Flat Mates Table, set out to tackle loneliness among young people by connecting flats through shared meals. Working within the context of social isolation, we designed a playful food-sharing subscription and campaign using posters, guerrilla marketing, and app design. Our brand aesthetic is playful, approachable, and engaging, making it more accessible to use. We learned how design can spark community connection and interest. Our display showcases this process and highlights how design fosters meaningful, real-world interaction.
