Content.w responds to the increasing amount of global and AI-generated media that is drowning out local art and culture online. The purpose of the project is to create a more democratic way of consuming content, where audiences have a say in deciding what they see. On top of that, because local events are promoted across various social pages and websites, they’re difficult to track. We’ve created an online social platform, a centralised source for everything art and culture in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, where users can stay updated with local events, connect with like-minded people, and showcase and sell their artwork. The project also features a magazine, a monthly retrospective of local art and culture, which includes interviews with artists, community-submitted work, and stories that people aren’t seeing on their social media feeds. The brand campaign directs focus to these touchpoints, and our store provides a space where people can learn and collaborate in person. The desired outcome of content.w is to provide a platform that promotes genuine connection and helps reinstate Wellington as the creative capital of Aotearoa.
